2011 GenCon Constructed Championship

Here we have the rules for the 2011 GenCon championships next month, which will bring players from all over North America to compete for prizes, bragging rights and the title of 2011 D&D Miniatures North American champion (and quite possibly World champion).

This year, we are testing your ability to create a warband that is ready for anything. A versatile warband of up to 8 creatures (or perhaps more for the clever players out there)that can play regardless of the map it ends up on, or the format chosen.

You can find the details in the Tournament factsheet. Good luck and I hope to see you all there!

Just to be sure, the critical hit rules only apply to Hand of Fate scenarios, and not to Assault or Bounty?

Damn, Bounty...gotta brush up on those rules and devise strategies...

Bounty just says that when you destroy a creature that "Additionally, you score a 5 VP bonus for destroying the creature." Do you still get that bonus if the creature you destroyed was 'Beneath Contempt' like a Kobold Miner?

Good questions morbon, historically there was no way to add the the value of a kobold miner due to the wording on the card. We might be seeing a lot of miners! heh

PI: Crit rules are specific to 'hand of fate.'
M, K: Normally, you would not score bonus points unless you scored points. I am ruling here that the points scored for Bounty are independent of those normally scored in the game. Therefore, you do in fact score 5 points for a kobold miner.

Nice, Kobold Miners now actually could give your opponent 5 VP in Bounty games.

I love the map selection. Although I could have done without the Dwarven Outpost.

Thx Tried.

I said you needed to be prepared to play on it.
I never said you would actually play on it.

Is that evil? (or just unaligned...)

Unaligned.

In the Fact Sheet, you say:

"Map options are random, and will vary each round depending upon player seating assignments."

So is there the possiblity one could play on the same map twice, or more, depending upon seating arrangements?

And, will everyone be using the same map each round? It does not sound like this will be the case.

Thank you oh Great One.

I was looking at GenCon events and doing some scheduling. There are some discrepancies on the times/dates from the Guild sheet and the Event registration from GenCon.

The GenCon events listing has three registration numbers for the Miniatures league (one per day): NMN1123905, NMN1123912, NMN 1123913, The Guild only lists the first.

GenCon events lists the Gladiators event (NMN1123871) on Thursday (Guild sheet says Friday), both at 2pm
GenCon events lists the 50 point constructed (NMN1123879) on Friday (Guild sheet says Saturday), both at 2pm
GenCon events lists Dungeon Run (NMN1122109) at 8pm (Guild sheet says 7pm)

I also have a few questions about a couple of the formats, but I'll post those separately.

You need to go by the GenCon listings.
Some things were changed around, and we will have to do things their way.

That said, I could/should go back and change our notice to line up better.

To Sirohk:
The odds of the map you use, etc., completely depend upon the numbers showing up. I suspect, but will not guarrantee, that some players may well play on the same map twice.

The factsheet tell us to bring bring pen, paper, miniatures and appropriate battle map, stat cards, and counters.

Can I bring a different map? This map will be used in any round?

Thanks in advance
