Epic Set 2: Feymire
GenCon saw a surpise releases of the new epic set with boosters that were packaged by the DDM guild members themselves. The boosters (8/box, 7 cases total) were used in league all weekend, and a couple of them even ended up finding their way to tables during the community draft.
The set can be found here. This is, perhaps, not a 'true' Epic set in that almost all of the figures are useable in 200 point play. So, to alleviate this potential concern, perhaps we can consider this a 'semi-epic' set. What you will definitely find, however, are titanic creatures that can surely hold their own in whatever format you may wish to play them. Perhaps you think pieces in the 50-100 point range are simply not competitive enought to play? You may change your mind after looking at this crew. Figures like the Stealth Mage, who can almost become invisible at will and blast for incredible damage are clearly very frightening pieces; others, like the human fighter lord, seem somewhat innocuous but are incredibly solid when tested by the enemy.
We heard the same reviews again and again while we were at GenCon - "These are really fun pieces." We think so, too - and we hope you agree.

I really like the set. The cards and chosen minis reflect the theme very well. Great work!
The Fighter Lord looks indeed very strong with his ultra-high defenses for 61 points. One can be ignored, but if my opponent would have 3 of them - in 200 - it could be very difficult...

Very interesting stats. Looking forward to try some out. The Human Fighter Lord looks like a beast at first sight. Perhaps adding the unique keyword might be an idea.
Will we see more non-DDM mini's (Shadar-Kai Stalker) getting stats in the future?

There is no need for the unique modifier.
He is beatable, just as the fettered dracolich is, or the ambush drakes are.
My favorite in the set might well be the Arachnomancer, whose spider theme really comes out in the tactics she uses in combat.

I like all the set overall it seems pretty interesting, nevertheless I agree that the human figther lord it is too strong maybe a little lower reflex and will defenses could be good like the fettered dracolich
also a question about the second champion power of the fallen warlord it benefits the living allies? or it was for unliving allies?, because the last one seems more probable

Ok, first off thanks be to the powers for the new stats. Alot of these look like a bunch of fun. I'm looking forward to playing with these. Well that is I'm looking forward to playing with almost all of these. My problem is with statting (and beautifully so I might add) a fig that I can only own if I shell out 40+ bucks for a heroscape master set. I can understand doing this for packs of 4 figs and then statting the bunch of them, but only one fig?? And of course I've been told that they don't make this set anymore so I'll have a heck of a time finding it even if I could afford it.
To be honest I blame the developement team. It's their fault for making a fig I REALLY want to own.

I have yet to come across anyone (since I have not discussed this with Dem
) who would feel that the Human Fighter Lord is in any way balanced. He is not a game destroyer, but he sure makes dozens other pieces seem puny in comparison. And those pieces were no slouches themselves.

I'd love to have your write an article comparing HFL to the Dragon Sam, Fettered Drac and Ambush Drake. (you could even add Wulfgar there, though he is a step down.)
I've studied the meta for some time. I am well aware of the shift in paradigm. This does set a new standard of power for minititans.
Next up on the complaint list: Master Shadowdancer!
(Ummmm-What do you mean it can shift away and charge back into combat every single turn? etc.,)

Sorry to disappoint, but I rather feel the Master Shadowdancer is a very well made, balanced and interesting figure. As are most every other figure in the set. Some are quite strong, and one might find combos to even make them quite formidable. I only found one exception.
As for comparison, HFL beats Dragon Sam hands down (barring som rather obvious synergies), is clearly stronger than FDL (who looks good on paper but really only exists to be ignored after the first breath), and only slightly above Ambush Drakes (who are at the very very top of the curve themselves, along with only a few others).
I find it rather disconcerting that HFL's defenses are slightly better than those of a 232 pt creature and only a tad behind a 352 pt creature.

Personally I agree with Justjooaivan; the HFL can easily beat and seem unbalanced with the dragon samurai, the fettered dracolich and even wulfgar like Tried said (between other same-cost minis); as a comparison with other minis it has overpowered defense, maybe a defense more likely wiill be all between 29 and 27. In the case of the comparison with the ambush drake, just mehh...
it is already an overpowered mini for me.
Maybe people can think I am just being annoying but I really like to conservate the comparison between new minis and older minis, because not want to go again to the wizards direction where only a few old minis were competitive and the new ones ruled the game because its better stats. And when I mean better stats I refer to comparison with the cost and defenses, the damage, the speed, etc... not the new abilities.
As for the master shadowdancer I like a lot, hope I can prove it soon

I'd say he's bent, but not broken. He'll still die horribly to auto-damage, auto-crits, and (likely) higher level titans.
He's also "slow" at Speed 6.

I agree with Justjooaivan.
The HFL is far better than the Dragon Samurai (higher Damage output, AC 32 instead of 27 - Single Combatant is quite easy to avoid - and much better DEF)
The Fettered Draclich has the same AC and Fort, but REF and Will are significantly lower. Furthermore he will dish out 15 damage instead of HFL's 25 most times. I would not use more than one Dracolich because his main asset, the 25 ongoing necrotic damage would not stack.
The Ambush Drake is a top piece - but the AC ist still much lower - 29 instead of 32. Thats huge (Ok the Drake has Defensive Advantage - but still a major diffence). The Drake is also a large piece. So I would use max. 2 of them (most times only 1), while 3 HFL look very attractive.
I would prefer a HFL with lower defenses or the unique keyword.

Ambush Drake's a medium...
IMO most of this should be Unique: Arachnomancer,Eladrin Silver Pyromancer, Fallen Warlord, Frostrager Barbarian, High Cleric of Sune,Human Fighter Lord, Master Shadowdancer, Shadar-Kai Stalker, Stealthmage,Warforged Juggernaut.
BTW, I rebased Shiory yesterday, she fits perfectly among the DDMs, unlike most of Heroscape pieces...
I would like DDM stats for that elf wizard with the little dragon - he looks fantastic!
I wonder, why choose the Dark Traveller mini to restat as an undead champion? He looks pretty alive to me...

It was actually the phantom versions of these pieces that were released at GenCon.
While we will allow the originals to be used, it is the phantom versions that were intended.

IMO, we need more of this, especially those good looking minis with mediocre stats (especially from older sets), like Red Samurai, Human Dragonslayer, Sword of Glory, Vampire Hunter, Everfrost Ranger, Scarlet Brotherhood Monk, etc

It's great to see gals like Ragnara, Sune and Drow Arachnomancer all growed up. They're going to be a lot of fun to play.
Also, I love the concept of the set. Not the epics, per se, but the filler that make the epics that much more epic (because they're so d*mn good at providing flanks, pumping damaging, nerfing, etc.).
Love the Arachnomancer. Love the cursed spirit's new lease on life, so to speak.
3x HFL is 255 terrifying HP's, not to mention the remaining 17 pts of filler.
